A Texas Realtor© based in Houston
with a focus on OAK FOREST - GARDEN OAKS
Our family came to Houston Texas in the 1960's. Our first home was near Lamonte and Alba. My earliest impressions of Houston were the astonishing tall pines and little green lizards running around, both of which I had not seen before. My first school was Garden Oaks Elementary. Mom and Dad soon bought a gorgeous home across from the school, in the 700 block of 41st street. Sadly, that home is no more, just an empty lot. But I still love to drive by to look at the big oak tree that I and our family cat climbed long ago. In those days my sister and I rode the Metro bus down 43rd to Black Middle School. Our family watched the live moon landing on television in that house and I was given my first surprise birthday party in the huge backyard! And finally, my father purchased a home on Thornton Street, between Oak Forest and Ella. That house was “home” during my years at Waltrip High School as well as the home in which my parents lived for the next thirty years! In 1984 my sister and I started our first business at Ella and 610. So many memories . . . I will always hold the people of Oak Forest and Garden Oaks close to my heart, no matter where I live.
